I just want to smoke it.............

I’m giving up smoking next year, not my choice but a choice made for me by my country’s MPs, thanks a lot MPs!!!!!!
Don’t know how I’m gonna DJ, or pass time between bands at gigs etc, oh well; I’ll just have to make the most of this last year or so and smoke like a bastard!!

SEMIFINALISTS – S/T APRIL 2006



Semifinalists are three Non-Brits based here who have come to rock the party!!!! Native Indonesian Ferry Gouw, met up with Americans Chris-Steele Nicholson and Adriana Alba started the band accidentally while trying to make a soundtrack for their friend’s film, they liked the sounds they were making and chose to get on with making Semifinalists the band they have succeeded in creating.
I first heard Semifinalists on MTV2s late night alternative to the “alternative” showcase 120 Minutes and was taken aback by the single Show The Way which starts off a little electronic with dual vocals between Chris and Adriana then after about 75 seconds a huge riff signals a time change and more melodic guitars and sounds to me like Death Cab, Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, Capitol K, Mogwai and Polyphonic Spree jamming at the start of the best ever episode of Later With Jools Holland. That’s why I knew I’d love this band. The songs posted on the bands MYSPACE didn’t disappoint either and this debut full-length is 12 great experimental lo-fi pop songs that I’m sure also sound great live.
If you like any of the aforementioned artists I’m sure you’ll love this band and album, if you don’t then have a go anyway and you may be converted.
