Ha ha ha, Jim Davidson is bankrupt!!!

Hello dear reader, are you still there?????? Not going to make any excuses for not updating because I have been busy and there has been a World Cup on.

Since I last wrote a band I mentioned last time(Cherry Ghost)have signed to Heavenly, home of Doves, The Magic Numbers and Ed Harcourt amongst many others and I can't wait for the records, the gigs, the press etc. This is untypical of many who get snobbish of "their" bands reaching a wider audience. I couldn't disagree more, if good music finds its way to more people then surely the world is a better place, right???? There is a whole debate there which I really can't be arsed to go into right now but if you fancy discoursing, get in touch throught the comments.
So, Cherry Ghost. Fucking brilliant. Like Sparklehorse, and Wilco, and Richard Hawley and Johnny Cash and Sweet Sweet Soul Music and all your Christmasses at once. Their myspace is here but you can't download from it so try this link here instead.(Nudge Nudge!!!)

Cherry Ghost are playing the Water Rats next Monday(17th) and all being well that should be my 7th gig in 6 days for I have a bit of a gig marathon planned.

My Gig Marathon

Wed 12th July - Twilight Singers, Highbury Garage
Thu 13th July - Elbow, Somerset House
Fri 14th July - Amsterdam, Borderline then Speed Circus, Rhythm Factory
Sat 15th July - Richard Swift, Borderline
Sun 16th July - The Lemonheads, Somerset House
Mon 17th July - Cherry Ghost, Water Rats

If I manage to complete this crawl, I will be rather happy but also quite possibly skint and in need of a new liver, wish me luck.

Saw The Twilight Singers in Manchester last week and they were, as ever, fucking brilliant. There was one particular moment that was as thrilling as any I have seen in 14 or so years of gig-going. I will elaborate more when I write up the gig marathon next week.

As ever been finding a load of cool new stuff to listen to, stuff like Jurassic 5's new record, The Young Knives album, and Grant Lee Phillips nineteeneighties and much much more.
Two albums I have been looking forward to have leaked in the last couple of weeks, both are recommended so grab them while you can.

Captain - This Is Hazelville

The Rifles - No Love Lost

Captain remind me of this band.
The Rifles, are a bit like these, and have a great band supporting them in London on the 20th July. This lot.!!!

Bye for now!!!!!

P.S Just heard a clip of the "eagerly awaited" new single from The Killers entitled When You Were Young, quick review........PILE OF DOGWANK.

I haven't heard the new single but I'm sure it's not that bad. Come on, think of Brandon in pink...not that bad either, huh? :)
