Back to work tomorrow grrrrrrr.....

Wow, shitloads of views yesterday!!!! Thank you to those who visited, especially for the first time, I hope you liked what you saw and you’ll come back again. Thanks has to go to the great site TOTALLY FUZZY for linking to here, if you don’t know them have a visit and find a whole variety of delights from across the blogiverse(if that is a word, or even if it isn’t!).

So yesterday saw a compilation of 22 of the best songs from the best albums of 2005, now I thought would be a good time to do a little compilation of some good stuff we’ve got to look forward to in 2006. It’s a mixture of bits from albums that are due in the next couple of months(Graham Coxon, Mogwai, Jenny Lewis etc)with stuff from bands that look promising to be big or at least good this year(Good Shoes,Rumblestrips,Fields etc)and some other odds and sods.

KICKABOUT NEW FOR 2006

Sex Drugs and Rocks Through The Window – Agent Blue
This lot have been around for what seems like ages and this was a single about 2 years, but there now seems to be an album for 2006.

I Can’t Look At Your Skin – Graham Coxon
Little Coxy returns with an absolutely cracking new album, not out til March but it is already on heavy rotation at kickabout towers

Little Driver – Dawn Of The Replicants
I’ve always loved this band so another new album and a smattering of gigs will always get me excited, check it!

Small Town Girl – Good Shoes
A bunch of kids from boring Morden, South East London, end of the Northern Line, boredom has obviously honed these kids songwriting skills because they sound ready to go already, will be pretty big by summer time!

Harmed – Film School
Sure, it sounds very British, very 80s, VERY Robert Smith-but what exactly is wrong with that.

Monkey Island – Euros Childs
Gorkys Zygotic Mynci frontman offers up his debut solo effort this spring, if this is anything to go by, us Gorkys fans will love it.

I’m A Widow – Robert Pollard
Ex Guided By Voices man is as prolific as ever, and his new collection is, as usual chock full of genius pop songs.

Aging Has Never Been His Friend – Love Is All
Pitchfork has raved about them already and this Swedish lot will be big everywhere this year, click the link below for the full album.

Love is All – 9 Times That Same Song

Motorcycle(Live) – The Rumble Strips
I like Dexys Midnight Runners, this lot obviously do as well, so I like them, check this live track and you’ll see what I mean.

Cheekbones – The Childballads
Stewart Lupton, ex of Johnathon Fireeater has a new band, Childballads, and they are ace, this id a version of the debut single out soon on Loog.

Why Not Nothing – Richard Ashcroft
Mad Dickie Ashcroft from what I have heard so far has made his best solo effort(or maybe I’m getting old???)

Song For The Fields – Fields
This lot seem to be supporting everyone in the coming months, check em before they blow.

Steady Rollin’ – Two Gallants
Roughly speaking, the exact point where Willy Mason meets The White Stripes and things get a little sexy. My mate Keith is gonna love ‘em!!!

Window Pane – Guillemots
Special, special band from Birmingham are already looking like they could be as big as say Keane, and they are miles better than that shower, sounds unlike anything you’d expect

Ramblin’ Man – Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan
Isobel Campbell, ex of Belle and Sebastian(?) teams up with the legend that is Lanegan for this broody set of dark ballads, look out for his collaboration with the mighty Greg Dulli, hopefully late this year.

Handle With Care – Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins
Who doesn’t love Jenny Lewis? This is a sweet collection that still sounds a lot like Rilo Kiley, nice!

Friend Of The Night – Mogwai
Scotlands finest sonic terrorists do what they do best and produce another great album of noise and quiet, noise and quiet, to be enjoyed late at night, well I do……
